Is this torture?

Source

-Waterboarding

According to Mr Bush and friends, its not...sure doesnt sound like a lot of fun to me...

Maybe some kinda sactions, reduced trade, maybe even regime change is needed in this country which seems to think little of international law, and compleatly lack any morals...

Mugabe's Zimbabwe

Source

So yea, how right is the archbishop?

Firstly, how messed up is Zimbabwe?
  • "Pretty terrible for most people"
  • "Hundreds of thousands are going hungry."
  • -annual inflation rate is 3,700%
  • bread, sugar, petrol are often not available in local shops.
But does anyone care?
  • The US and the EU imposed targeted sanctions on Mr Mugabe and his close associates
  • African countries have been reluctant to openly criticise Mr Mugabe
Its like the archbishop said, where are the people out protesting, what is the world doing to stop this atrocity?
Its weird we look back on the 70's, 80's etc. and think what a crazy bunch of people, but at least people cared about stuff, there where protest marches, people tried to do something. The apartheid in South Africa was a massive international issue, this is a similar scale atrocity, the 'elected' ruler of the country is killing millions of people, people are starving. And yet the best we can come up with is a few travel sanctions on Mugabe and his mates...
Also interesting how when there was something truly terrible the only way the governments of the world could convince their people it was something worth fighting for, they had to lie and scare people with stories of WMD's (admittedly there were quite likely to be some other objectives, but if at the same time as securing your oil supply you can take out a ruler like Sadam Hussein I don't think its such a bad thing)
So yea, do you care about this? that people are being starved by their own governments? Zimbabwe is the only country despartly in need of some help, there are many more around the world.
Do you care enough to get off your arse and protest, write to your MP, give some money?

An Overview of Great Lakes Outreach

I once met this guy, and he gave a very hard hitting talk. I still recieve his prayer letters, and they are always full of the amazing stories of Gods works in Brundi. But along with the amazing miracles, there are always really sad stories of the terrible things happening there.
Pray for these people, pray for Gods work and those doing it.
